Mainul Islam was killed

Tamim, a college student, has been accused of hacking his father to death for participating in the anti-discrimination student movement. Tamim's father Mainul Islam (42) was seriously injured in an attack by miscreants in Kushtia's Daulatpur upazila at around 10 pm on August 9. He died on Wednesday (August 21) morning while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College (DMH) Hospital.
Mozzamel Haque, the younger brother of the deceased, confirmed the matter. He filed a case as a plaintiff in this incident.
The deceased Mainul Islam is the son of Gazi Pramanik of village Balirdiyar of Ward No. 7 of Moricha Union of Daulatpur Upazila of Kushtia. He was an easybike driver. At the same time, he was also doing gas cylinder business. His son Tamim is a first year honors student of management department at Kushtia Government College. The family and relatives of the deceased claimed that the father was attacked because the son was involved in the anti-discrimination student movement. They demanded exemplary punishment for those involved.
A case was filed in Daulatpur police station on August 13 in this incident. 5-7 more unknown accused have been made.
The accused named in the statement are Alam Molla (48), Yusuf Molla (38), Rajib Molla (30), Shipul Molla (30), Sabuj Molla (25), Bakkar Molla (56), Tipu Molla (40), Chanchal Molla ( 32), Jadu Molla (42), Tukon Molla (38), Sohail Molla (40), Janbar Molla, Shamim Molla (25), Shakeel Mondal (32) and Kalam Molla (40).
Mozammel Haque, the brother of the deceased and the plaintiff in the case, told Dhaka Post, "My brother's son Tamim Kushtia studies in government college. His father was hacked to death by opponents because he participated in the anti-discrimination student movement in Kushtia. They are associated with local Awami League politics. Last August 9 around 10 pm, my elder brother was attacked by people of Molla clan in front of Government Primary School in Balirdia. Later today he died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical. Yusuf, Rajib, Shipul, Bakkar, Sabuj, Tipu, Chanchal, Jadu, Token and their men killed my brother under the leadership of former member Alam Mollah. I filed a case as a plaintiff. We want exemplary punishment for the accused.
It is mentioned in the statement of the case that the accused attacked with intent to kill because of Moinul Islam's son Tamim's participation in the anti-discrimination student movement. Last August 9 around 10 pm, Moinul Islam left for his home from the village market by riding a motorcycle. On the way, the accused attacked him and seriously injured him. Attacked him with firearms including sharp ramada, sharp chapati, iron rod, stick, batam and severed his right arm below the elbow. He also cut his left hand and caused serious injuries. When the bystanders came forward on his screams, the accused fled with cocktail blasts and blank shots. Later the locals rescued him and took him to the hospital. As the condition was alarming, he was admitted to various hospitals and was undergoing treatment. He was finally taken to Dhaka Medical College. He died while undergoing treatment there.
The deceased's son Tamim said that he was participating in the quota reform movement from the beginning. After Sheikh Hasina fled the country on August 5, she went to her village home from Kushtia city. Even after going home, he participated in the peace march in Daulatpur. Seeing this, some Awami League leaders and activists of their village went to their house and threatened to kill his father Mainul Islam and family members.
He also said that on the night of August 9, those leaders and activists of Awami League and their people attacked his father Mainul Islam and cut him with sharp weapons and seriously injured him. He was rescued in critical condition at Upazila Hospital on the same day, from there to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, and later brought to Pangu Hospital in Dhaka. There, his almost severed right hand was surgically amputated. He was admitted to Dhaka Medical ICU on August 15 after seeing the deterioration of his condition. Moinul Islam died on Wednesday morning while undergoing treatment there.
Attempts were made to contact the accused to discuss the matter, but they could not be reached.
Daulatpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahabubur Rahman said, a case has been filed in this regard. No accused has been arrested so far. Legal action will be taken against the accused. Police operations are on to arrest them.
