The Election Commission (EC) is thinking of completing the 223 local government by-elections postponed due to the curfew imposed during the quota agitation in September. In this case, the campaign time of the candidates may increase.
EC Additional Secretary Ashok Kumar Debnath said that the election has been postponed in the current situation.
In this case, the election may be postponed next September. Other officials said that once the curfew is lifted, the commission will discuss the election.
On July 27, by-elections were to be held for 23 posts in various district councils, five posts in municipalities and 195 posts in union councils.
Earlier on July 11, the candidates started campaigning with the symbol. In this case, they got 15 days of campaign time. New dates may increase their promotion time. Voting in the election will be done through electronic voting machines. Polling will be held from 8 am to 4 pm
