Khair, who was shot in the police clash with the students, is unable to undergo surgery due to lack of money

Abul Khair (27), a son of a poor family of Bhola, was shot dead in a clash between students and the police during a joyous procession in Chittagong on August 5, the day of the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government. Four surgeries were done on his body with loans, but currently the remaining two surgeries are uncertain due to financial crisis. In such a situation, his family has sought the government's support.

The shot dead Abul Khair is the eldest son of Keramat Ali Howladar and Halima Begum, a resident of Ward No. 5 of Chermanika Union of South Aicha Police Station of Charfashan Upazila. On the one hand, the income of the earning person of the family is stopped, on the other hand, his medical expenses. Now his poor family is disoriented. The family members also do not know how to perform the remaining two surgeries in the coming days due to financial crisis.

Going to the house of Khair, who was shot on the ground, it is seen that their house has been destroyed by Cyclone Remal. As the house was unlivable, the whole family including Khayer moved to a small semi-furnished house of the sister's husband.

It is known that Abul Khair was working as an area supervisor in a supershop in Chittagong. On the afternoon of August 5, he was going to Khulshi after work from Golpahar area of ​​Chittagong. When he came in front of the Kotwali police station at Wasa Mor, he got into a massive clash between the police and the students. At that time, in front of Kotwali police station at Wasa intersection in Chittagong, a total of 4 bullets including two in the stomach, one in the shoulder and one in the left leg were hit in different parts of his body. He immediately fell to the ground. After some time the students rescued him and took him to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for treatment. Khair, who was shot, alleged that no one except his family looked for him.

When asked, Abul Khair took out the Android mobile phone he used as an example of the horrific incident on August 5 at 4 pm. He told Dhaka Post, this is my mobile. The mobile was in the pocket of the pants, the mobile in my pocket got a hole in it. For this mobile, the shots I hit on the run did not completely penetrate the run.

That day I was going to Khulshi after work from Golpahar area of ​​Chittagong. On the way, when I came in front of the Kotwali police station in the Wasa Mor area, I fell into a clash between the students and the police. At that time, I got two bullets in my stomach, one in my shoulder and one in my left leg. Instantly the whole body becomes paralyzed. After being shot, the students rescued me and admitted me to Chittagong Medical. Later relatives came after getting the news.

Abul Khair said, when the condition worsened without getting better treatment in Chittagong Medical, the family members took me from there and admitted me to Asian Medical in Chittagong, then CMH in Dhaka and finally admitted to Dhaka Medical. A total of 4 operations had to be done. Later, when the condition improved a little, they brought me home.

He also said that 4 and a half lakh rupees have been spent on my treatment. Some of this money is saved by our 3 brothers. Raising the rest of the money by borrowing. Still have to have an operation on lungs and cholesterol back removal. But due to the financial crisis of my family, I am not able to take the surgery and daily medicine properly.

Meanwhile, Khair, who was shot, and his younger brother wanted to repair the four-storied tin house that had been destroyed by Cyclone Remal. But who knew that the little money saved by the two brothers would be spent on medical treatment instead of repairing the house.

Abul Khair's elder brother. Saddam Hossain told the Dhaka Post, "It was hoped that we, the two elder brothers, would earn a living and repair the house that was destroyed by Cyclone Remal." But that hope was not fulfilled. The money for repairing their house was spent on the treatment of my brother. Besides, I have continued his treatment by borrowing money from people. We do not have the capacity to treat him in the coming days. Two operations are still to be done.

Halima Begum, the mother of Abul Khair who was shot, said, I have 4 sons and 3 daughters. Khair is the eldest of the boys. Our family was running on his income. Now our family and health care is not going well. I spend the day in a lot of trouble. Creditors also press for their money. Khair needs government support to carry out the remaining two operations and treatment. Then he can return to normal life again.

Bhola District Commissioner Md. Azad Jahan told Dhaka Post, "If there is someone in Bhola who does not have treatment for money, then I will definitely help from the district administration." So far, each of the 46 martyr families of Bhola has been given financial assistance of 10,000 taka.
