Monir Hossain, Benapole representative:- Benapole land port opened today Monday (October 14) after 4 consecutive days of vacation. Earlier, on the occasion of Durga Puja, the government had declared a holiday on Thursday (October 10) through an executive order. Due to the extension of Durga Puja holiday by one day and two days of weekend, the opportunity of this holiday is created for 4 consecutive days.
In previous years, only Vijaya Dashami was a public holiday, but this time, the interim government declared the Saptami day i.e. last Thursday as a public holiday. The employees enjoyed a total of four days off including Friday and Saturday.
Rashedul Sajib Nazir, Deputy Director (Traffic) of Benapole Port, said that import-export between the two countries has resumed from the morning of October 14. The customs authorities and C&F agents on the other side informed us. Import-Export normal port load-unload and customs work is going on.
Benapole Checkpost Immigration Police Inspector (Investigation) Omar Farooq Majumder said that due to the Puja holiday, the transportation of goods through the Benapole-Petrapole port was closed. The operations of the port are going on as usual since Monday morning. Passport passenger movement with India will remain normal. Passport passengers coming from India or going to India from Bangladesh can travel normally.
Mohammad Masudur Rahman (Super) of Checkpost Cargo Branch at Benapole Custom House said that on the occasion of Durga Puja last Thursday, October 10 to October 13 was a 4-day holiday. Import and export of goods at Benapole-Petrapole port was closed. Today, Monday, October 14, import and export are resumed.
Sajedur Rahman, General Secretary of Benapole C&F Agent Staff Association said, Import-export trade has started from today through Benapole-Petrapole port.
