The students of Islami University (EB) held a protest rally against the purposeful opening of the Ghazaldoba dam and the sudden flood in North Bengal. It was held at the main gate of the university under the banner of general students of Rangpur division at 11:30 am on Saturday (October 1).
At this time, students demanded fair share of all international rivers of Bangladesh with India and implementation of Teesta Master Plan.
In the beginning, the students took out a protest march from the main gate of the campus. The procession circumambulates the important roads of the campus and ends at the same place. Later a short rally was held there. Dr. Sheikh ABM Zakir Hossain, Professor of Al Quran and Islamic Studies Department and Inzamul Haque, Government Professor of Geography and Environment Department, were present in the gathering.
"Bangla why the cry of the north is silent",
"I want to implement the Teesta Master Plan immediately" "Why so much discrimination, is North Bengal outside the country", "Discrimination with North Bengal, no more", "I want Teesta water distribution, I will not accept injustice brother", "Why is India's aggression allowed?" Students displayed placards saying 'We want accountability in water distribution' etc
The students said in the rally, "India opens dams on international rivers at various times on purpose and creates flood situation in Bangladesh. No warning is given before opening the dams. So we demand immediate implementation of Teesta Master Plan. India has violated international law. They are violating our rights. Did. Fair share of all international rivers with India is the need of the hour."
EB coordinator of anti-discrimination movement SM Sweet said, "The people of Rangpur division are demanding the implementation of Teesta Master Plan. Rangpur is the most neglected division of our country. Due to the policy of kneeling down to India, the previous government did not protest against any injustice of Delhi. India was kept on its knees. Floods in Rangpur are artificial floods. We demand the government to take immediate action on the issue of Rangpur, which is rich in resources. As a result, the people of Rangpur are not being developed Must do.'
Inzamul Haque, a government professor in the Department of Geography and Environment, said, 'We are always being misunderstood as the Teesta Master Plan. There are 34 countries planning to dam a Teesta in India, of which 17 have implemented dams. An international river is being dammed from place to place. As a result of such dams, Teesta water is supposed to come through North Bengal but it is diverted to West Bengal. We are not being given our fair share of water. During the fascist government called for the implementation of the Teesta Master Plan. But it did not materialize as a result of the fascist government's policy of bowing to India. We want to ask this government to quickly implement this master plan. If it is not implemented then Durbar movement will be formed.
Al Quran and Islamic Studies Department professor Dr. Sheikh ABM Zakir Hossain said, "People of Bangladesh know how to protest against all injustices. They never accept injustice. The people of this country will not accept India's injustice with Bangladesh regarding international rivers. We want justice for the water of the river from India. The release of river water is creating a flood situation in this country. We strongly condemn it."
