The officers and employees of Pabna Palli Vidyut Samiti have formed a human chain to demand the implementation of uniform employment rules and the regularization of irregular jobs by avoiding duality.
An hour-long human chain was held on Abdul Hamid Road in front of Pabna Press Club on Monday (September 30) noon. Officials and employees of Pabna Palli Vidyut Samiti-1 and 2 headquarters and zonal office participated in the human chain.
At this time, the speakers said that the Rural Electrification Board is harassing the officials and employees of the Rural Electricity Association in various ways. According to the government law, the employment rules of Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board and Rural Electricity Association are supposed to be the same. But Rural Electrification Board is not implementing it. 80 Rural Electricity Societies of the country are being operated under separate employment rules. This discrimination of REB cannot be accepted. Also Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board buys low quality goods and supplies them to Rural Electricity Societies. There is also dissatisfaction on the customer side with them.
The speakers also said that there are also many irregular employees in Palli Vidyut Samiti. As contractual they too have been discriminated against for years. They are not being made permanent. Palli Vidyut Samiti's activities cannot continue with this double policy. Therefore, the speakers demanded to immediately avoid the double policy and implement the same employment rules in the Rural Electrification Board and the Rural Electricity Association and regularize all the irregulars.
