Four children were killed by a microbus in Khoksha, Kushtia. Several others were injured in the incident. The accident took place on the Kushtia-Rajbari regional highway in Kuthipara area of Shimulia, Khoksar while returning from the mosque after reciting the Quran at around 7:30 am on Sunday (September 29).
Khoksa Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Annoor Zaid confirmed the matter to Morenews.
The deceased are Mim (12), daughter of Hanif of Shimulia Kuthipara village of Khoksa Upazila of Kushtia, Tanjila (11) daughter of Palna Sheikh of the same village and Yuthi (12) daughter of Helal Uddin. The other person could not be immediately identified.
Meanwhile, the angry crowd has blocked the Kushtia-Rajbari regional highway in protest of this incident.
Chairman of Shimulia Union Parishad (UP) Abdul Qudduds said that the students were returning home after reading the Quran at Shimulia Kuthipara Jame Masjid around 7 o'clock on Sunday morning. While crossing the Kushtia-Rajbari regional highway, a speeding microbus hit them and overturned in a nearby pond. One girl died on the spot and three girls died at the hospital.
OC Annoor Zaid said four children died in the impact of the microbus. The angry people blocked the Kushtia-Rajbari regional highway in protest. Efforts are underway to control the situation.
