A businessman named Bablu Biswas (60) was killed in a head-on collision between a CNG-powered truck and an auto-rickshaw at Santhia in Pabna. 5 more people were injured in this incident.
The accident took place on Friday (August 30) around Pabna-Dhaka-Bogra highway near Vitapara new bridge of Karamja Union upazila.
The house of deceased Bablu Biswas is in Daspara Mahalla under Santhia Municipality. Santhia has his bicycle parts shop in Boilermari Bazar.
Quoting eyewitnesses, OC Zainal Abedin of Madhpur Highway police station said that a truck was going towards the fence from Shahjadpur. On the other hand, a CNG-powered autorickshaw carrying passengers from Barra to Shahjadpur was going towards Shahjadpur from Barra C&B. On the way, when Vitapara came near the new bridge, they clashed. One died on the spot. In this incident, five people were injured and are being treated at various nearby clinics including Bara Hospital.
Madhpur Highway Police Station OC Zainal Abedin said, CNG and truck have been seized. The body was recovered and brought to the police station. The driver is absconding. He said that the family of the deceased has been informed that the body will be handed over after the necessary legal procedures are completed.
