An allegation has been made against Salim Reza, lecturer of Bengali Department of Nawab Siraj-ud-Daula Government College, Natore, of giving a bad proposal to a student of Class XI. When tension broke out in the college in this incident, the army personnel arrested the lecturer Salim Reza and handed him over to the Natore police station.
As the complaint was initially proved to be true, the victim student filed a written complaint with the college vice-principal on Monday (August 26) morning with the assistance of Bangladesh Cyber Team.
It is said in the complaint that apart from teaching in the College, Lecturer Salim Reza also tutors students privately in a rented room in nearby Zola Par. During private tutoring, he repeatedly made lewd suggestions, including regularly leering at the complaining student. He made him fail in Bengali subject in the last annual examination of class 11 as he did not agree to the bad proposal. Later, when contacted about this, he asked to meet him personally. When they visited her in a rented room for private tutoring, he forcibly touched her on several sensitive parts of her body and sexually assaulted her. Later, the victim girl contacted Sadat Rahman, the founder of the cyber team, and told the matter.
Sadat Rahman, the founder of the cyber team, said that Salim Reza, the lecturer of Bengali department of Natore Nawab Siraj-ud-Daula Government College, had been making bad suggestions to this eleventh class student of the college several times. They came to Natore on Monday with the cyber team on such allegations. Lecturer Salim Reza asks students to come to his private room even on college holidays on Mondays. Later the student went there with the cyber team. At that time, members of the cyber team checked the mobile phone of teacher Salim Raza and found evidence of many objectionable messages being exchanged with many other students. In this incident, they along with lecturer Salim Reza went to the college vice-principal and informed the college authorities in writing.
Vice Principal of Nawab Siraj Ud-Daula Government College Professor Abdul Bari Mirza said that a student of class 11 has made a complaint against Selim Reza, lecturer of Bengali department of the college. Initially the allegations were found to be true.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadar police station Mizanur Rahman said that Salim Reza, the lecturer of Bengali Department of Nawab Siraj-ud-Daula Government College, has been kept in police custody by the army. So far no written complaint has been filed against him. If complaints are received, necessary action will be taken after investigation.
